The wall surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or debris before installation. For trowel-adhesive panels, apply a primer to porous substrates to improve bond strength. For Stick & Go panels, a clean, smooth, non-porous surface gives the strongest self-adhesive hold ƒ?? avoid textured drywall or unsealed masonry without primer.

Prepare the Surface

Ensure the wall is clean, dry, and free from debris. A smooth, primed surface gives the self-adhesive backing the strongest possible hold.

Lay out your panels before peeling. Confirm the layout and spacing ƒ?? once the adhesive makes contact, repositioning is limited.

Peel & Position

Remove the adhesive backing from each panel. Align to your layout marks and press firmly into position from the center outward to avoid air pockets.

Press and Continue

Apply firm, even pressure across the full panel face. Continue installing adjacent panels, checking alignment as you go. No sealer is required, though optional sealing enhances long-term durability.

Using a trowel, apply an even, consistent layer of adhesive to the back of each panel. Aim for 80ƒ??100% coverage to within ?¬ƒ?? of the panel edges.

Position and Press

Set the panel against the wall and press firmly across the full surface. Use a level to confirm alignment before adhesive begins to set. Work outward from a fixed reference point.

Seal the Seams

After all panels are set and adhesive has cured, apply a quality stone sealer to seams and exposed edges to enhance durability and guard against moisture infiltration.

Clean Up

Remove adhesive squeeze-out immediately before it cures. Clean panel faces with a damp cloth ƒ?? avoid abrasive cleaners that could affect the slate surface.

Seal Exterior Installations

For outdoor or exposed applications, apply a penetrating stone sealer prior to installation and reseal annually. This preserves the rich earthy tones and protects against weathering.

Wet Areas ƒ?? Allow Full Cure

In showers, bathrooms, or kitchens near water, allow adhesive to cure fully ƒ?? typically 24ƒ??48 hours ƒ?? before exposing the installation to moisture or steam.

Care & Maintenance

Clean LuxeStone Rustique with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive pads that may dull the slate surface. For exterior installations or wet interior areas, reseal periodically with a quality penetrating stone sealer. Proper surface preparation and adhesive application are required to maintain installation integrity.

Products cannot be returned without prior approval and must have a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number. Under the following circumstances, products may not be returned for credit:

  1. Are marked on
  2. Are modified in any way
  3. Have been exposed to excessive sun or moisture
  4. Have sheetrock mud, primer, stain, "job site damage"
  5. Returned 60 days after invoice purchase date

Returns are F.O.B. Buyer and are subject to a 20% restocking charge. To receive credit for stock products, product must be received in re-sellable condition. Custom mouldings and custom woodcarvings are not returnable under any circumstances. If returned products are received damaged due to poor repackaging, no credit will be processed. It is imperative that items are not returned in their original packaging without a thorough inspection as more fill may be needed to boxes of carvings or additional wrapping for mouldings may be necessary to prevent return shipment damage. Please call  1-800-558-0119 and speak to our Customer Service Representative to request an RGA.

*Claims for packages marked "delivered" must be filed after 5 days and before 15 days from the date the package was marked "delivered." Claims for packages presumed to be lost (where the status is not "delivered") must be filed after 7 days (20 days for international) and within 30 days from the last checkpoint.

Shipping rates vary by product category — see the rate table on each product page. Residential LTL deliveries require capable help to unload. Inspect all shipments within 15 days and report damage immediately. Customer is responsible for all freight charges, including residential delivery fees and liftgate charges.
