Surface Preparation

Clean, Sound, and Primed

The wall surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or debris before installation. Apply a primer to porous or absorbent substrates to improve adhesion and ensure the panels bond properly. Allow primer to cure fully before proceeding. On dark installations, any adhesive squeeze-out will be visible against the black face ƒ?? clean up immediately.

Step by Step

Prepare the Surface

Clean and dry the wall thoroughly. Apply primer to porous substrates to ensure maximum adhesion before laying any panels.

Dry-Fit First

Always dry-fit panels before committing adhesive. Confirm layout and panel orientation ƒ?? seam placement is especially visible against a dark surface, so plan carefully.

Apply Adhesive

Using a trowel, apply an even, consistent layer of adhesive to the back of each panel. Aim for 80ƒ??100% coverage to within ?¬ƒ?? of the panel edges to prevent edge lifting.

Position and Press

Set the panel against the wall and press firmly across the full surface. Use a level to confirm alignment before the adhesive begins to set. Work outward from a fixed reference point.

Seal the Seams

After all panels are set and adhesive has cured, apply a quality stone sealer to seams and exposed edges to enhance durability and guard against moisture infiltration.

Clean Up

Remove adhesive squeeze-out immediately ƒ?? residue is more visible on black slate than on lighter colorways. Use a damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners that could streak or dull the surface.

Dark surfaces show squeeze-out and smears far more than lighter colorways. Keep a damp cloth within reach during installation and wipe panel faces clean as you go ƒ?? before any residue cures.

Seal Before Outdoor Install

For exterior applications, apply a penetrating stone sealer before installation and reseal annually. Sealing preserves the deep black tone and protects against weathering, chalking, and surface oxidation over time.

Wet Areas ƒ?? Allow Full Cure

In showers, bathrooms, or kitchens near water, allow adhesive to cure fully ƒ?? typically 24ƒ??48 hours ƒ?? before exposing the installation to moisture or steam.

Care & Maintenance

Clean LuxeStone Galaxy Black with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive pads, or acidic solutions that may dull or streak the slate surface. For exterior installations or wet interior areas, reseal periodically with a quality penetrating stone sealer. Proper surface preparation and adhesive application are required to maintain installation integrity.

Products cannot be returned without prior approval and must have a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number. Under the following circumstances, products may not be returned for credit:

  1. Are marked on
  2. Are modified in any way
  3. Have been exposed to excessive sun or moisture
  4. Have sheetrock mud, primer, stain, "job site damage"
  5. Returned 60 days after invoice purchase date

Returns are F.O.B. Buyer and are subject to a 20% restocking charge. To receive credit for stock products, product must be received in re-sellable condition. Custom mouldings and custom woodcarvings are not returnable under any circumstances. If returned products are received damaged due to poor repackaging, no credit will be processed. It is imperative that items are not returned in their original packaging without a thorough inspection as more fill may be needed to boxes of carvings or additional wrapping for mouldings may be necessary to prevent return shipment damage. Please call  1-800-558-0119 and speak to our Customer Service Representative to request an RGA.

*Claims for packages marked "delivered" must be filed after 5 days and before 15 days from the date the package was marked "delivered." Claims for packages presumed to be lost (where the status is not "delivered") must be filed after 7 days (20 days for international) and within 30 days from the last checkpoint.

Shipping rates vary by product category — see the rate table on each product page. Residential LTL deliveries require capable help to unload. Inspect all shipments within 15 days and report damage immediately. Customer is responsible for all freight charges, including residential delivery fees and liftgate charges.
