How This Profile Is Made

Solid Poplar

Milled from solid Poplar, this profile installs with standard woodworking tools and accepts paint or stain.

Lumber & Machining

All White River Hardwoods hardwood mouldings are milled from clear, kiln-dried hardwood lumber, NHLA graded and dried to 6–8% moisture content. Roughly 65% of the lumber runs 12′ to 16′, which is what lets us produce stock mouldings in overall lengths from 3′ to 16′. Profiles are precision machined on Weinig moulders with Weinig knife tooling.

Long Stock Lengths

Milled in lengths up to 16′, so most runs go up without a splice. Fewer joints, cleaner line, less filling.

Paint or Stain

Poplar takes paint cleanly and stains evenly. Ships unfinished so the finish is yours to choose.

Standard Tooling

Cuts, copes, and fastens like any hardwood trim. No special blades or adhesives.

Curved Work Available

Radius and curved versions of this profile can be produced for arched openings and curved walls. Ask your rep.

Step by Step

Acclimate

Store flat in the room for 48–72 hours before cutting.

Set the Reveal

Mark a consistent reveal on the jamb — 1/4″ is typical — and cut to it.

Miter or Butt the Head

Miter head-to-leg joints, or butt a header over square-cut legs.

Fasten Both Edges

Nail the inside edge to the jamb and the outside edge into framing every 12–16″.

5

Fill & Sand

Fill nail holes, sand flush, spot-prime.

6

Finish

Paint or stain and clear-coat.

Care & Handling

Keep bundles flat and supported until installed. Interior use for Poplar; choose the resin option for damp or exterior locations. Dust with a dry cloth. Finished moulding can be wiped with a barely damp cloth.

CA381 — Traditional. Milled by White River Hardwoods.

Products cannot be returned without prior approval and must have a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number. Under the following circumstances, products may not be returned for credit:

  1. Are marked on
  2. Are modified in any way
  3. Have been exposed to excessive sun or moisture
  4. Have sheetrock mud, primer, stain, "job site damage"
  5. Returned 60 days after invoice purchase date

Returns are F.O.B. Buyer and are subject to a 20% restocking charge. To receive credit for stock products, product must be received in re-sellable condition. Custom mouldings and custom woodcarvings are not returnable under any circumstances. If returned products are received damaged due to poor repackaging, no credit will be processed. It is imperative that items are not returned in their original packaging without a thorough inspection as more fill may be needed to boxes of carvings or additional wrapping for mouldings may be necessary to prevent return shipment damage. Please call  1-800-558-0119 and speak to our Customer Service Representative to request an RGA.

*Claims for packages marked "delivered" must be filed after 5 days and before 15 days from the date the package was marked "delivered." Claims for packages presumed to be lost (where the status is not "delivered") must be filed after 7 days (20 days for international) and within 30 days from the last checkpoint.

Shipping rates vary by product category — see the rate table on each product page. Residential LTL deliveries require capable help to unload. Inspect all shipments within 15 days and report damage immediately. Customer is responsible for all freight charges, including residential delivery fees and liftgate charges.
