Storage, Handling & Acclimation

Acclimate First β€” Always

On receipt, store flat in a controlled interior environment. Allow 24–48 hours to acclimate before finishing or installing. This stabilizes moisture content and reduces post-install movement. Before you begin, lightly roll and unroll each panel to flex the backing β€” hold the rolled position for 5+ seconds, then return flat.

Interior Use Only

Tambour panels are not suitable for wet or high-humidity environments including showers, bathrooms, or pools. Always install in a space with standard room temperature and humidity.

Installation

Step by Step

1

Prep the Surface

Wall must be clean, sound, and free of dust, grease, or debris. Apply primer to porous substrates for better adhesion.

Dry-Fit First

Always dry-fit before committing adhesive. Install vertically or horizontally β€” confirm your layout before you spread anything.

3

Apply Adhesive

Use PVA, contact, epoxy, or a quality panel adhesive (e.g., Titebond Fast Grab FRP). Trowel for 80–100% coverage to within ΒΌβ€³ of edges. With a gun, run beads around the perimeter and horizontal beads every 4–6β€³.

Press & Secure

Apply firm, uniform pressure across the full panel. Use a ΒΎβ€³ sacrificial board when tapping or hammering. For curved applications, temporary bracing until the glue sets ensures clean contact.

Leave Micro-Gaps

Leave a hairline gap between adjacent panels β€” roughly two stacked business cards β€” to accommodate natural wood movement over time.

Clean Up

Clean any adhesive squeeze-out immediately to avoid residue on slat faces.

Pro Tips

Pre-Stretch Inward

Before attaching, roll the panel inward to stretch the backing. This makes it more compliant and easier to handle, especially on curved surfaces.

Flex Outward with Intent

Follow up by flexing outward firmly to fully stretch the paper backing. A properly stretched panel lays flatter and adheres more evenly.

No Cabinets Through Tambour

Never mount cabinets or furniture through the panel into the wall. Wood movement can cause buckling and will void the warranty.

Warranty Reminder

Warranty may be voided if panels are installed in high-moisture environments, or if cabinetry or furniture is mounted through the tambour panel into the wall. Always follow adhesive manufacturer's instructions and allow full acclimation prior to installation.

Products cannot be returned without prior approval and must have a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number. Under the following circumstances, products may not be returned for credit:

  1. Are marked on
  2. Are modified in any way
  3. Have been exposed to excessive sun or moisture
  4. Have sheetrock mud, primer, stain, "job site damage"
  5. Returned 60 days after invoice purchase date

Returns are F.O.B. Buyer and are subject to a 20% restocking charge. To receive credit for stock products, product must be received in re-sellable condition.Β Custom mouldings and custom woodcarvings are not returnable under any circumstances. If returned products are received damaged due to poor repackaging, no credit will be processed. It is imperative that items are not returned in their original packaging without a thorough inspection as more fill may be needed to boxes of carvings or additional wrapping for mouldings may be necessary to prevent return shipment damage. Please callΒ Β 1-800-558-0119Β and speak to our Customer Service Representative to request an RGA.

*Claims for packages marked "delivered" must be filed after 5 days and before 15 days from the date the package was marked "delivered."Β Claims for packages presumed to be lost (where the status is not "delivered") must be filed after 7 daysΒ (20 days for international) and within 30 days from the last checkpoint.
