How a Touch of Custom Can Enhance Stock Parts

Our default is always to recommend utilizing selections from our thousands of stock products. These are cost effective and cover a wide variety of applications. Most of the above mantel follows this mantra. But for the mantel legs, this customer needed something special.

We did not start with custom though. We did several design iterations that had stock products for the legs. Here are two examples. One uses a Mon Reale frieze; the other uses an off the shelf corbel:

Neither of these were exactly what the customer wanted. Specifically, she was looking for something with a beautiful rose detail. She gave us this as an inspiration image (right):

It was at this point that we committed to making a custom piece. We took the inspiration and developed custom mantel legs to fit her design:

These legs were then carved in our factory. The details were impressive (right):

They also had an impressive sense of scale

The end result was a beautiful mantel that combine these custom legs with stock products:
